Choose Healthy Life Congratulates Detroit Association of Black Organizations on Prestigious Award Win

Choose Healthy Life is delighted to congratulate the Detroit Association of Black Organizations (DABO) for being awarded the esteemed Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Culture of Health Prize.

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Culture of Health Prize is a highly esteemed award in the realm of public health. This prestigious recognition is given to organizations across the United States that are working at the forefront of advancing health, equity, and opportunity for all citizens in communities that have historically faced unequal health outcomes.

"The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Culture of Health Prize is not just an honor; it's a testament to the relentless pursuit of health equity and opportunity for all,” said Reverend Al Sharpton, Chair of the National Clergy Health Leadership Council and founder of the National Action Network. “I want to personally commend Reverend Horace Sheffield for his distinguished leadership at DABO. His commitment and passion have set a high standard for what we can achieve in our communities."

"DABO's impact on the Detroit community is nothing short of extraordinary,” said Debra Fraser-Howze, founder of Choose Healthy Life. “Their tireless work in addressing health disparities and promoting wellness illuminates the path towards a healthier, more equitable future. Our partnership with DABO under Reverend Horace Sheffield's leadership is a beacon of hope for the community. We are proud to stand side by side with them, working towards a brighter tomorrow."

DABO is a highly respected federation comprised of over 130 black and non-black organizations. With a mission to build community unity, DABO serves as a beacon of hope and empowerment for the Detroit community. Their primary purpose is to address and eliminate systemic challenges that disproportionately affect marginalized communities.

In addition to its local work, DABO serves as the Detroit Hub for Choose Healthy Life, leading Detroit’s efforts to address health disparities in the Black community. This partnership has enabled both organizations to extend their reach and impact, working collaboratively to promote health equity and wellness.

Choose Healthy Life celebrates this milestone alongside DABO and looks forward to continued collaboration in promoting health equity and wellness in communities nationwide.
